Useful information
Improvement of Fruit Production : Plant eucalyptus along the orchards because its nectar attracts bees and the pollination of the fruit trees is clearly improved by it. Moreover, thanks to its rapid growth, it quickly forms a protective hedge, protecting the orchards from winds which are likely to cause crop damage.
Recovery of Marshes : Plant eucalyptus to cleanse marshes by reducing the population of mosquitoes and, consequently, paludism. Eucalyptus’s cleansing affect on marshes is three fold: it absorbs a great quantity of water, which contributes to the overall lessening of water in marshes and to the reduction of insect reproduction sites while providing a plant with “powerful medicinal properties”. An astringent hemostatic, a febrifuge and an antispasmodic, eucalyptus is one of the best stomachics against dyspepsia. It is recommended in the cases of chronic inflammation of the gastric mucous membrane or the intestinal mucous membrane. Herbalists also suggest eucalyptus as a remedy for vomiting. It is in addition recommended for indigestion brought on by the presence of sarcina, a pathogenic bacterium. Eucalyptus is also used in the prevention against intestinal parasites. Moreover, it relieves some symptoms (such as hot flashes and gas) of women in menopause and due to its ability to disinfect respiratory tracts, is used to treat bronchitis, influenza, pulmonary tuberculosis, pulmonary gangrene and asthma. Additionally, it fluxes saliva, it’s used in cigarettes against asthma, its dye, infusion, and distilled water are used as a disinfectant to wash wounds, including burns and skin ulcers and it is an antiseptic of the urinary tract able to treat various infections. Researchers have particularly targeted it as a treatment for colibacillosis and inflammation of the bladder. However its use should not be abused as it can become an irritant to the kidneys. Eucalyptus’s external application can also help relieve certain types of migraines as well as rheumatisms. An infusion of eucalyptus is also recommended for patients with typhoid. For this add 2 handfuls of eucalyptus leaves to water, let boil and steep for 10 minutes. Up to 3 cups per day may be consumed.
Biological Insecticides : Eucalyptus is an excellent insecticide. It can be rubbed on the skin to deter mosquitoes and other undesirables and rubbed on pets’ fur to deter fleas. Also, to disinfect polluted air, boil eucalyptus in an open container. Elsewhere, the simple presence of it as a potted plant contributes to purify air.
